It’s important to stay organized during your job search. Here is a basic interview checklist for your next meeting with a potential employer.

First things first, before you even walk into an interview make sure you turn off your phone. If you are under circumstances where you cannot completely turn off your phone, make sure it is on silent.

First impressions are everything when it comes to interviewing, this is why it is so important to dress appropriately. Nothing will make a bad impression faster than showing up to a meeting wearing inappropriate attire. If you aren’t sure what the company’s dress policy is, it’s okay to ask about the attire when you schedule the interview.

You never know what is going to happen on your way to an interview, so it’s important to always be early. Maybe you will get a flat tire? Maybe there won’t be any parking? If you arrive early, the worst case scenario will be that you have an extra 20 minutes to prepare.

Always bring extra copies of your Resume! You never know how many people will actually interview you. It’s important to come prepared and have copies of your resume and reference sheets.

Lastly, follow up with a thank you email. This will leave a positive impression on your potential boss.  It’s also important to thank them for taking time out of their schedule to meet you. If you are currently searching for a new job, check out the TRC Staffing Services job board.
