The longer a job is “on the market” – i.e. posted on various job boards as unfulfilled – the less desirable it starts to look. Pair that with the fact that the best candidates are often those who apply early – proving they’re on top of their game – and your best bet as a hiring company is to snatch up a good applicant while you can and mark the position as “filled.” Just because the vacancy’s only been open a couple of weeks doesn’t mean it’s too early to fill it. In fact, you waste less time and less dollars if you go ahead and go with that good candidate rather than waiting to see what else comes along.
Candidates, for you, that means it pays to stay abreast of jobs as they come up and apply early.
