The Toughest Places to Interview

Glassdoor recently released it’s list of the Top Most Difficult Companies to Interview.  Among those are:

  • McKinsey & Company
  • Google
  • Procter & Gamble
  • Facebook
  • Amazon

Desirable places to work means there’s a lot of competition for those spots.  These companies can afford to be picky, and their rigorous screening process is intended to weed out all but the cream of the crop.  What are some of the techniques they use?  Here are a couple:

Long interview processes.  These interviews can stretch over many weeks and include a phone screen, written tests, case studies you must analyze, and several interviews with numerous people.

“Speed dating.”  For example, five different applicants meet with five different interviewers for one minute each.  In that time they must answer difficult questions and form a positive impression – no pressure!
