In IT? Here are the Trends for 2012.

According to COMPTIA in a recent blog post, these are the big trends in information technology for 2012.

1. Cloud.  In June, the 2011 Global CIO insights study found companies 50% more likely to spend money on cloud computing than they were two years ago. Cloud-based hardware and software resources are cost-effective, flexible and contain many new features.  IT workers will need to help integrate cloud systems into legacy systems.

2. Mobility.  As more and more businesses (and inevitably almost all of them) look for ways to streamline operations and communication with mobile platforms, mobile development skills will continue to grow in demand.

Developers will require constant training and research to evolve with the rapidly changing industry, as well.

3. Social Solutions. No matter your industry or job title, it seems you cannot escape the need to understand “social.”  You can hire a social media consultant, but ultimately you also need to understand how social applies to your particular expertise.  Naturally, information technology workers need to understand social, from developing social enterprise tools to public networking sites.  They’ll have to understand the role technology plays in the overall communications strategy.

What other trends will play a big role in 2012 IT?
