What are you doing to bridge the gap?

At the end of September, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that there are 3.4 millions job openings.  Meanwhile, companies are complaining of skills shortages all the time.

Here’s our question for the week.  What are you doing to bridge the gap?

If you’re a student, are you looking out for demand and choosing classes according to your interests, talents, and demand.

If you’re an educator, are you looking out for demand and ensuring your programs are preparing students for the future?

If you’re a school counselor, are you advising students of the needs that exist?

If you’re a job-seeker, are you taking classes to improve your skill set according to the jobs you see out there (taking your personal strengths into consideration of course)?

If you’re an employee, are you reading up on the industry and constantly learning to keep up with the rapidly changing technology?

If you’re an employer, are you providing and encouraging training for your employees?

If you’re a staffing company, are you partnering with businesses and educators in the community to improve communication between the two, regarding needs?
